He was predeceased by: his daughter Susan Wigemyr; and his brother Mike Ostafichuk. He is survived by: his wife Eileen Riste; his daughter Sonja Schock (Tracey); his son-in-law Blaine Wigemyr; and his granddaughters, Nicole Magnuson (Jordan), Maddison Drader (Ryan), Paige Schock (Baxter) and Brooke Schock.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers you make a donation to the Alberta Diabetes Foundation in honor of both John, and his daughter Susan.
