He was predeceased by: his parents, George Zimmer and Theresa Zimmer (Wolbeck); his granddaughter Sarah Dawn Reinhart; his siblings, Eileen Heck, Lorne and Jack Zimmer; and his sister-in-law Donna Zimmer.
He is survived by: his wife Nellie; his children, Joann Reinhart, Patricia Martz (Joe), Bill Zimmer (Joan), Donna Yuha (Doug), James Zimmer (Lorie) and Cheryl Sieben (Mark); his siblings, Ken (Betty), Gordie, Garry (Marvis), Bobby (Pat), Sharon Adams (Terry) and Theresa McTavish (Allan); and his siblings-in-law, Ross Heck, Janet Zimmer and Carol Zimmer. He is also survived by twenty-two grandchildren; their spouses; and twenty-eight great-grandchildren.
If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions in Don's memory may be made to the Stollery Children's Hospital, Canadian Blind Hockey, or to Providence Place, Daysland.
