He was predeceased by: his daughter Janice Hunter; his parents, Harry Hunter and Frances Hunter; his brothers, Glen Hunter and Harry Hunter; and his sister-in-law Alida Hunter.

He is survived by: his wife Patricia Hunter of Cold Lake; his daughters, Maureen McArthur (Randy) of Grande Prairie and Deanna Hunter of Beaumont; his grandchildren, Christopher (Amanda), Jillian (Kurtis), Evan, Jaret, Sheldon (Delaney), Devyn (Brandon) and Sydney (Dane); his great grandchildren, Alec and Maggie; and his brother Dale Hunter of Lloydminster.
