He was predeceased by: his son Mel Butler Jr.; and his wife Diane Butler. He is survived by: his daughter Val Townsend (Deone); his grandchildren, Dakota, Wacey, Jace and Jessa; his brothers, Walter (Elaine), Don (Elena) and Gordon (Lee Ann); and his uncle Pierce (Arlene). He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
