He was predeceased by: his father Howard Saunders; his stepbrother Dalton; his brother Howard Saunders; his stepbrother Arnold Houseman; his stepfather Floyd Houseman; his mother Lydia Houseman; his parents-in-law, Min Annett and John Annett; his brother-in-law Claude McLaren; and his niece Muriel Jackson (Lyle).

He is survived by: his wife Connie Saunders of Castor; his sister Ethel McLaren of Viking; his nephew Colin McLaren (Ev) of Viking; his niece Billi Jo White (Brent); and his children, Evan McLaren of Edmonton, Megan McLaren of Edmonton and Bobbi Jo McLaren of Edmonton.
