Anthony Curtis Day Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Anthony (Shamrock) Day Chief, at Cardston Health Centre Hospital on November 7th , 2022 with his family by his side, at age 62. Anthony was born on February 16, 1960 to Sam Day Chief Sr. and late Lily Eagle Tail Feathers-Standing Alone.
He will be sadly missed by his children: Shaquila, Tennile, Ayrianna, Alearra, Mikhlya, Takleah, Brayden, Austin, Stetson. Shamrock is also survived by his sisters; Ronda, Dale (Girlie), Misty, Belinda (Rod), Barbara (Shawn), Renita (Ed) and Francis. Brothers; Perrish (Marla), Pernell (Mariada), Alfred "Bunny", and Ronnie (Wendy). Aunts; Bella, Agnes, Jennifer (Albert), Emily, Bessie, Cecilia (Norbert), Frankie (Wilbert), Nat (Gordon Sr.), Florine, Theresa (Ron), and Veronica. Uncles; Mike (Crystal), Jerry (Tereasa), Rex, Leonard (Anna), Joe, Pat, and Stan. His adopted mothers, Blanche, Rhea, and Odile. Adopted family, Stabs Down's, Lorrane, Cynthia (Ronnie), Dedee Shouting, Geniveve Bruised Head. Theresa Girl Red Crow. His adopted son Tyrell (Meranda), and special friends Jordan Bruised Head, Darren (Lisa) Curly Rider, and Danny Curly Rider.
Shamrock was very close with all his relatives and friends. Shamrock was raised by his grandparents the late Ronald and Jane Day Chief where they lived in Old Agency on the Blood Reserve. Shamrock was the oldest of the grandchildren, Shamrock was giipiitaapaakaa to Ronald and Jane.
Shamrock attended Standoff, Fort Macleod, and St. Mary's School. He worked for Recreation and Parks for many years as custodian at Old Agency Hall. He loved travelling for handgames and powwows. Shamrock's uncle Leo bought him a traditional regalia outfit, he did not care to join competition, he just enjoyed dancing. He loved to travel; he's been all over the States including California for powwows. Shamrock joined the Horn Society with Pat and Delia Twigg and the Brave Dogs Society; he was partnered with his aunt Bella. He also practiced his traditional doctoring. Despite him being in a wheelchair, he loved his casino, his favorite machine was the Buffalo's.
Shamrock made sure he provided for his children, he always made sure they had a clean house, and 3 meals a day. When he had visitors, he always welcomed them with a big meal.
Shamrock will be deeply missed, he was predeceased by his mother Lily Eagle Tail Feathers-Standing Alone, paternal grandparents Ronald and Jane Day Chief, maternal grandparents Frank and Helen Eagle Tail Feathers, Minnie Wings. He is also predeceased by his aunts, uncles, and cousins; Hilda, Paul, Leo (Elizabeth), John, Emil (Helen), Giles, Lori, Blake, Sonya, Leon, Joe Buck, Braxton, Jared, Cody, Kelly-Ann, Jacob, Adeline/Ray, Bob/Gloria, Marlene, Bobby, Sonny Jr., April Lee, Robyn, Maria, Tiana, Bambie, Mike, Ricky, Mackenzie, Faron, Nelson, and Jody.
Shamrock had a large extended family on both sides of the Day Chief's and Eagle Tail Feather's.
A special acknowledgement goes out to the Cardston Health Care Hospital Staff and all the doctors that took care of him. Also to the Blood Tribe Health Care nurses/staff especially Jody Provost. Special thanks to Child Protection Services of Alberta.

The Wake Service will be held on Sunday, November 13, 2022 at White Calf Hall, Stand Off from 6:00 - 10:00 pm. The Funeral Service will be held at White Calf Hall, Stand Off on Monday, November 14, 2022 at Noon. Interment to follow at One Spot Cemetery.
