He was predeceased by: his wife Gladys; his parents, Arvid and Gina; and his siblings, Shirley Lowen and Neil Nelson.

He is survived by: his close friend Johanne; his children, Kim Sander (David) and Monica Nelson; his sister Maryann Pawliuk; his brother-in-law Jim Lowen; and also, Lawrence Hassey (Deanna), Dianna Ferh (Darcy) and Leanne Friedriches. He is also survived by ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
