He was predeceased by: his father Walter. He is survived by: his mother Victoria; and his siblings, Kim Sturek (Marilyn) of Red Deer, Renée Bendfeld (Grant) of Forestburg and Constance Lehenbauer (David) of Sadona, Arizona. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions in Gary's memory may be made to the Alberta Cancer Foundation, or to St. Mary's Palliative Care Unit 2.
