He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Kruse and Mary Kruse; his brothers, Harvey and Gary Kruse; and his brother-in-law Jack Quinlan.

He is survived by: his close friend Sandy Chartrand; his children, Melissa Kruse (Wes Konkin) of Camrose, Corey Ames (Cody J. Brown) of Lethbridge and Daniel Ames (Miquila Brown) of Lethbridge; his granddaughter Elayna; and his siblings, Gail Quinlan of Calgary and Don Kruse (Judy).

If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions in Dennis's memory may be made to ALS Society of Alberta.
