He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Bernard and Bernice Bernard; and his sister Joyce Bell. He is survived by: his wife Donna; his daughters, Rebecca Richardson (Aaron) of Edmonton and Sadie Dusang (Troy) of Fort McMurray; his stepdaughter Sherry Murugan (Shan) of Edmonton; and his siblings, Anne Stang (Bob) of Camrose, Danny Bernard (Melinda) of Donalda and Scott Bernard (Lisa) of Camrose. He is also survived by five grandchildren.

If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions in Bruce's memory may be made to the Camrose Food Bank.
