He was predeceased by: his parents, Gilbert Shane and Marie Shane; and his siblings, Phyllis Quinn (Syl), Ardis Colgan (Len), Leslie Shane (Terry) and Pat Doulton (Don).

He is survived by: his wife Florence Murphy; his daughters, Sharon Shane (Paul), Lorna Shane and Kait Shane (Doug); his grandchildren, Liam Matthews, Claire Shiminsky and Kyra Greif; and his sister Ada Theoret (Ed). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
