Leo Joseph Aucoin Obituary

Our family is overwhelmingly saddened to announce the passing of our beloved Leo on February 25, 2025, at the age of 76. Although he had heart and lung diseases, it was Lewy Body Dementia that would steal his essence and life. He knew everyone to the end, but the confusion and hallucinations were his nemesis.

Leo was born in Halifax on Halloween 1948 to Rose and Arthur Aucoin, the youngest of five children. He lived a life filled with laughter, integrity, love and kindness. He worked hard and played hard, a gentle giant, a born salesman, and always a jokester who loved a good time.

Leo was an honest and intuitive Realtor for almost 40 years, always looking out for his clients' best interests. He was liked by clients and colleagues alike, believing that if you do the right thing and work hard, you will reap the benefits. Throughout his real estate career, he received many awards, made countless friends, and cared for generations of buyers and sellers. He was equally passionate about sports, playing hockey, tennis, racquetball, and golf. Playing cards was something you rarely beat him at.

He loved his siblings deeply – Ray and Marg, Roland and Bonnie, Lucille, and Annette. There is no doubt that Ray and Rolly met him at heaven's doors with their Mom for a long-awaited family reunion.

Leo's greatest love of his life was family – Marjorie, and her children, Crystal-Anne and Allan, and his stepson, Jeff, along with nieces and nephews, Rena, Richard, Charles, Craig, and Cheryl and their families. He deeply loved all our grandchildren, Carter, Nova, Faeryn, Indigo, Aurora, and Bella. He had a huge heart for so many, and folks gravitated to him, and all of them became his friends.

We are so grateful for our strong, supportive communities – family, dear friends, neighbour friends, and church friends. We are so thankful for our home care provider, Wendi Kerr, who took Leo on adventures and was his buddy to the end. Huge gratitude to our incredible neurologist, Dr. Dawn Pearson, who has been an inspiration and shining light for us throughout this long goodbye.

We will all forever miss our Leo.
