“Every so often I think about Chuck. He died so very young, 55 is just the beginning of the next chapter of his life. I was best friends with him in med school, having met him the first week of classes, and commiserated over the trials and tribulation of medical school in Chicago. We both went to do residency in Nova Scotia together. I returned to Madison Wisconsin to start a Family Practice, he went on to specialty care in Calgary - more to follow”

“I worked with Chuck at the Foothills Hospital and I quite often remember how kind he was to his patients and colleagues. Unfortunately, he was taken from us far too soon. “Charlie always believed that his fate was tied to those of his immediate family and that he would follow them to a premature death. He would try to protect me by saying, “You must always be prepared to be alone.”. Each morning he looked at himself in the mirror and said, “Today is a good day to die.”. Another was, “The moment you are conceived, you begin to die.”. He believed in an afterlife where he once again, would be with his relatives from Illinois and friends from his youth. He did not smoke or drink and did not respect anyone who did. He was a scientist, non religious and very spiritual. His final quote was, “More adventures ahead.”.”
