Audrey Watchorn Obituary
Former long-time resident of Brownvale (AB), Audrey passed away on August 8, 2024, at the Fairview Health Complex.
Audrey was born at the Berwyn Hospital on January 24, 1934 after a harrowing trip down the railway track by horse and buggy in a snowstorm. She attended school in Brownvale, until she finished her high school in Red Deer followed with Nursing training in Edmonton. She had a long successful career in nursing and is often remembered today for her compassion.
She followed that career by working at the Travellers Motor Inn as a desk clerk. She enjoyed meeting customers and learning a new skill set with computers:) Audrey was always busy from organizing her annual golf tournament to getting groups of friends and family to go horseback riding for a few days the Allen's Guest Ranch. Audrey was also an avid gardener. She loved to travel and had been to Africa and Europe.
She is predeceased by her father John Aitken and her mother Eileen Aitken; ex-husband Calvin Watchorn; and, her brother-in-law Ken Kish.
She is survived by her son, Darrell Watchorn (Grande Prairie), daughter Michelle (Michael) Ball (Strathmore); sister Jacqueline Aitken (Neil) of Grande Prairie; nephew Cameron Gaboury (Caroline, daughter Rachel) Nobelford; and, niece Ashley Gaboury (Brian Jenkins, daughter Sage) of High River.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Friday, August 16, 2024 at 1:00 pm, from the old Brownvale Hall. Following the reception at old Brownvale Hall, interment will take place at Griffin Creek Cemetery.
