He was predeceased by: his wife Ruth; and his parents, Melrose Shanks and Alexander Shanks. He is survived by: his sons, Doug (Bente) and Dale (Heather); and his grandchildren, Darcy (Amanda), Nicole (Trent), Ryan and Darryl. He is also survived by Twelve great-grandchildren as well as many special nieces, nephews and cousins.
