He was predeceased by: his wife Margaret Hopkins; his siblings, Reginald Hopkins (Rita), Thomas Hopkins (Lois) and Maoni Moss (Gordie); his brother-in-law Stubb Ross; and his parents, Thomas Godfrey Hopkins and Jemima Thomsen Hopkins.
He is survived by: his children, John Hopkins (Penny) of Lethbridge, Gerald Hopkins (Evelyn) of Bow Island, Keith Hopkins (Lynn) of Lethbridge, Royce Hopkins (Shannon) of Medicine Hat, Maureen Buday (Bob) of Medicine Hat and Robert Hopkins (Beth) of Bow Island; his grandchildren, Matthew, Max (Ildikó), Annalise (Keith), Grant (Sara), Jodi (Jordan), Reid (Shayla), Erik (Kathleen), Keely (Peter), Mitchell, Sierra, Lauryn (Brett), Clancy (Sarah), Olivia (Layne), Andrew, Jordan and Ethan (Giselle); and his sister Margaret Ross. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
