He was predeceased by: his parents, Josephat "Joe" Hamel and Jeanne Hamel; and his brothers, Reginald Hamel, Laurier Hamel, Gaston Hamel and Raymond Hamel.
He is survived by: his wife Janis Hamel; his daughters, Heather Hamel (Daniel Deacon), Melanie Hamel (Greg Speitelsbach) and Caroline Hamel (Trevor Kawata); his granddaughter Arianna Kawata; and his sister Georgette Hamel.
Visitation was held on Friday, April 11th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Memento Funeral Chapel (5201 Lakeshore Dr, Bonnyville, AB T9N1X7). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, April 16th 2025 at 10:45 AM at the St. Louis Roman Catholic Church (5027 49 Ave, Bonnyville, AB T9N2P8).
