He was predeceased by: his parents, Virgil Monteith and Margaret Monteith; his siblings, Rick and Raye Dahms; his brothers-in-law, Allan Cross, Brian McDonagh and Calvin Dahms; and his nephew Terence Cross.

He is survived by: his wife Karen Canniff; his children, Angela Schmul (Ryan) of Edmonton, Scott of Edmonton and Bret Blaydes of Blackfalds; his siblings, Wade Monteith of Blackfalds, Cathey Monteith of Red Deer, Pam McDonagh of Red Deer and Jackie Cross of Red Deer; and his grandchildren, Cooper, Montana, Rylan, Olivia and Finn. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
