It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Douglas Ockey Leavitt of Bassano, Alberta, born in Cardston, Alberta, who passed away on February 3, 2022, at the age of 77, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Elvin Leavitt and Lola Leavitt; his parents-in-law, Charlie and Lila Carter; and his siblings-in-law, Joe, Johnny, Carl, Jackie, Mabel and Joyce.
He is survived by: his wife Carolyn (Carter); his children, Gloria Cyr (Paul) of Taber, Sherry Steinbach (Lorne) of Bassano and Gary Leavitt (Tammy) of Sherwood Park; his grandchildren, Lisa, Larissa, Tanis, Josh, Shaun, Stephanie, Jessica and Cory; his great grandchildren, Kisa, Lola, Leon, Blake, Chloe, Kiana, Odette and Topanga; his siblings, Carol (Lloyd), Lawrence (Marilyn), Scott (Beth) and Dan (Shelley); and his siblings-in-law, Anne, Donna, Cecila, Melvin (Judy), Wayne (MaryEllen), Dwight (Joyce), Reid (Vonnie), Howard and Martin. He is also survived by 'Papa' to his 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, many cousins, nieces and nephews.
