He was predeceased by: his significant other Margaret (Marg); his siblings, Freda Anaka, Gerti Labrecque, Hilda Eberhardt and Alfred Thoma; his sister-in-law Kay Thoma; his parents, Mary and Anton; his parents-in-law, Maria and Johann; and his siblings-in-law, Tillie Nelisher and Bill Nelisher.

He is survived by: his children, Alvin Thoma, Joanne Bourgeois (Eugene), Sylvia Connell (Kevin) and Michelle Jabs (Stephen); his grandchildren, Nina Kooter (Tim), Steven Bourgeois (Kayla), Nicholas Bourgeois (Vanessa), Ethan Connell, Adam Connell, Andrew Jabs and Matthew Jabs; his great grandchildren, Marritt Kooter, Theo Kooter, Wren Bourgeois, Daliah Bourgeois and Nova Bourgeois; and his friend Germany. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews.
