He was predeceased by: his parents, Doug and Iona; and his brother Gary. He is survived by: his wife Elaine Horton; his children, Cory Horton (Erin Bond) and Laurie Kautz; and his grandchildren, Reid and Brynn Kautz.

A funeral service was held on Monday, September 9th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Ardrossan Recreation Complex (80 First Ave, Ardrossan, AB T8E2A2).
