He is survived by: his sisters, Maria Donovan of Belle Plaine and Kiki Donovan of Hiawatha; his nieces, Marisa Schilling, Megan Rieck and Amanda Donovan; his nephew Shane Rieck; his great-niece Lillian Schilling; and his great-nephew Keegan Schilling.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Iowa River Hospice or the University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital.
