He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Janice; his children, Mark (Katrina), Merridy Gielis and Thomas (Kylie Gielis); and his grandchildren, Rory, Kirk, Layna Matthews, Jaycee and Taya Gielis.

A funeral service was held on Friday, January 3rd 2025 at 2:30 PM at the Tweed Valley Lawn Chapel.
