He was predeceased by: his parents, James B. Murphy, Sr. and Dolores Barkhurst Murphy; and his son Richard Murphy. He is survived by: his wife Sandra "Cookie" Hendershot Murphy; and his siblings, Daniel C. Murphy (Mary Jo) and Sandra Carpenter (Mike Ovington). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
