He was predeceased by: his parents, Loy Elmer Smith and Eula Blanche Smith (Kesner); his wife Velma Jean Smith (Childers); his daughter Deborah D. McGaha; and his brothers, Virgil Smith and Luther "Bud" Smith.
He is survived by: his daughters, Diana Smith of Douglasville, GA, Donna Stallard (Darren) of Zephyrhills, FL and Sherril J. Thompson (Karey) of Notasulga, AL; his granddaughter Kristina Childs; his great grandchild Kynleigh Jean Childs; and his siblings, Marie Johnson (Smith) of Troy, VA, Elwood Smith (Betsy) of Upper Tract, WV and Samuel "Sammy" Smith of Martinsburg, WV..
