He was predeceased by: his parents, Beecher Garretson and Maggie Corns Garretson; his siblings, Theodore, Jack, Horace Garretson and Frances Carpenter; his daughter Gina Garretson; and his grandson Nicky Sexton.

He is survived by: his wife Jeanie Corey Garretson; and his children, Ryan Garretson, Bill Garretson (Mary Ann) of Sullivan, Serena White of Beckley and Michael Moore.
