He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Jason and Chlora Jane Gwinn Smith; and his siblings, Louisa Richmond, Lewis Kyle Smith, Cordelia Stiles, Paul Smith, Vivian Pearl Wilburn, Clarence "Junior" Smith, Esther DiLegge, Martha Fanary, Seth Boone Smith, Samuel Smith, Nellie Harrah and John Smith.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley Fleshman Smith; his children, Kendra Cooper (Gary) of Layland, Eddie Adkins of Ohio and Jason Smith (Samantha) of Jonesborough Tennessee; and his grandchildren, Jacob Cooper, Abigail Cooper, Alexa Cooper, Clara Smith, Joel Smith and Trenton Smith. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
