Phyllis Smith Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Phyllis Smith of Petersburg, West Virginia, who passed away on July 3, 2021 at the age of 96. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, O. R. "Dick" Oates, Sr. and Pearl D. Oates (Riley); her husband Orlen A. "Buss" Smith; and her siblings, O. R. "Dick" Oates, Jr., Joseph K. Oates and Norma Oates Miller Lee.
She is survived by: her children, Austin R. "Buddy" Smith (Pattie) of Petersburg, WV, Gary O. Smith (Carole) of Maysville, WV, Alan W. "Snuffy" Smith (Ruth) of Maysville, WV and Melanie D. Mowery (Raymond) of Upper Tract, WV; and her siblings, Carolyn F. Riggleman (Marcelle) of Stephen City, VA, Elizabeth (Smith) and Gerald Oates (Polly) of Keyser, WV. She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren; thirty-three great grandchildren; two step great grandchildren and eleven great-great grandchildren.
