He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Lester Smith and Nellie Smith (Ketterman) of Virginia; his grandson Tyson William Smith; and his siblings, John E. Smith, Nina Mills, Dora V. Appold and Maxine M. Smith.
He is survived by: his wife Helen R. Smith (Sites); his children, Gail M. Shockey (Mike) of Petersburg, WV, Ronald L. Smith (Lori F. Moore) of Maysville, WV, Lester W. Smith (Valerie) of Petersburg, WV, David W. Crites (Amber) of Petersburg, WV and Daniel J. Crites (Brittany) of Petersburg, WV; and his grandchildren, Jordan, Hannah, Lance, Isabella, Isaiah, Bentley, Cheyenne and Caisom. He is also survived by one sister.
