He was predeceased by: his parents, George Dewey and Jeannette Elizabeth Hastings (Smith); his wife Mary Stella Hastings; and his sister Margaret Peggy Hastings (Richard "Dick" Pickering). He is survived by: his former wife Mary Nichols; his family, Dewey and Mary; his sons, Edward Daniel Hastings and Dewey Samuel Hastings; his grandchildren, Matthew Daniel Hastings, Grant Smith Hastings, Ted Andrew Hastings, Mary Elizabeth Hastings and Jennifer Ann Hastings; his brother Robert Hastings (Carol); his sister-in-law Marcia Nichols; and his nieces and nephews, Andy Pickering, Paula Pickering, Tim Hastings, Rob Hastings, Kimberly Nichols Goodman, Edward Bartow Nichols, Leigh Nichols Turner, Claudia Nichols Bays, Monica Nichols and Andrea Coleman.
