He is survived by: his wife Grace Yvonne Delk Gilmer; his son E. Vernon Jr.; his granddaughters, Stephanie Renee Gilmer and Sarah Elizabeth Gilmer; and his siblings, Frank Gilmer and Lucille Armstrong. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
