He was predeceased by: his parents, Kyle Francis and Margaret Louise Sharp Carpenter; and his sister Lisa Johnson. He is survived by: his wife Norma Jean "Jeanie" Irvine Carpenter; his daughter Joy Dawn Carpenter of Lexington, VA; and his brother Aaron Carpenter of Marlinton. He is also survived by two nieces and two nephews.
