It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Katherine Hughes of Kingwood, West Virginia, born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, who passed away on August 10, 2021, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Philip George and Catherine Mae Thomas (Young); her husband Reverend Dean E. Hughes; and her siblings, Elizabeth "Betty" (John Kanuch), Stella "Weedie" (Donald Wolcock), Donna Lee (Charles Rager), George Thomas, Benjamin Thomas, Philip Thomas Jr. and Arthur "Artie" Thomas.
She is survived by: her daughters, Charlene (Thomas E. Strahin) and Cindy Klara of Elkridge, MD; her sister-in-law Beverly Thomas; her grandchildren, Jason (Alexis Moore) and Jennifer (Jose Pleitez); and her great grandchildren, Jeremy Sandoval, Jordan Pleitez-Klara and Joel Pleitez.
The family requests that any memorial donations be made in Katherine's memory to either the Wesley United Methodist Church, 107 West High Street, Kingwood, WV 26537, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Street, Memphis, TN 38105.
