He was predeceased by: his parents, James Edward and Bessie Mae Braithwaite (Watson); his son Chris Braithwaite; his siblings, James, Charles "Bud" Braithwaite and Mary Louise Broadwater; and his brothers-in-law, Robert Clark and James Smith.
He is survived by: his close friend Vernon Amtower; his wife Debra Sue Braithwaite (Kalbaugh); and his sisters, Shirley Clark of Keyser, Margaret Smith of Keyser, Janet Tichnell (Jerry) of Swanton, MD and Lois Clay (Rusty) of Piedmont. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
