He was predeceased by: his wife Mary Lou Wallace; his mother Ruth Null; his stepfather Boyd Null; and his stepsiblings, Carroll Null and Bonnie Racer.

He is survived by: his children, Gary Wallace (Christy) of South Charleston, Richard Wallace (Laura) of Arlington and Regina Layman (Gerry) of Waxahachie, Texas; his grandchildren, Brandi Smith, Rachel Loken, Christopher Dailey (Melisa), James Layman and Natalia Schaffner; his siblings, Dotty Hayes, Sharon Brown and Steve Null; and his caregiver Brenda Lyons.
