He was predeceased by: his parents, Riley Bitner and Loretta Bitner (Warrenfeltz); his wife E. Jean Bitner; his granddaughter Amanda Dion; and his siblings, Ruth Smith, Mary Domer, Blanche Ebersole, Joe Bitner, Howard Bitner, Walter Bitner, Riley Bitner, Orville Bitner, Ray Bitner and Earl Bitner.
He is survived by: his children, Debra Gates of Leitersburg, MD, Denise Dion (Bruce) of Savannah, GA, Wayne Bitner (Rhonda) of Hedgesville, WV and Michael Bitner (Stephenie) of Hedgesville, WV; his granddaughter Amy Parker of Manteno, IL; his great grandchild Riley Bitner of Hedgesville, WV; and his sisters, Margaret Miles of Hagerstown, MD and Evelyn Keebaugh of Chambersburg, PA.. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and three great- great grandchildren.
