He was predeceased by: his parents, Steve Korbel and Anna Korbel (Thomas); his brother Steve; and his brother-in-law Frank Byers. He is survived by: his wife Kathleen Korbel (Burd); his sons, Stephen Korbel (Sabrina) of Ross Township, PA and Andrew Korbel of Longmont, CO; his sister Betty Ann Byers of Weirton, WV; his grandchildren, Addison, Madeleine and Lucy Korbel; and his siblings-in-law, Karen Biela (Mike), Jeffrey Burd of Follansbee, WV and Michael Burd (Sandy) of Follansbee, WV. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
