He was predeceased by: his parents, Linzy Pearl and Blanche Burgess McAlister; his wife Elizabeth Young McAlister; and his sisters, Alberta Clark Emma Coleman, Lois Harbour, Virginia Shamblin and Kathleen Young.

He is survived by: his son Philip M. McAlister, Jr. (Cathy). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews as well as many beloved friends.
