He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Clendenin and Ina Coleman Clendenin; his siblings, Paul Jr., George Edward, Lloyd Richard, Grace Madelyn Morton, Mary Lee Clendenin and Nina Collins; and his stepson Albert Paul Whittington.
He is survived by: his wife Mary "Cookie" Clendenin; his sons, Charles Franklin Whittington (Marvalee) of Kanawha City and William Dennis Whittington (Tracie) of Clendenin; his daughter-in-law Charlene S. Whittington of Nitro; and his siblings, Boyd Clendenin, Lillian Grady of Buffalo and Ruth Elizabeth "Libby". He is also survived by three grandsons; two granddaughters; three great grandsons; three great granddaughters.
