He was predeceased by: his parents, Theodore Peterson and Edith Calhoun Peterson; his wife Janet Leipper Metzgar; his brother David Peterson; his siblings-in-law, Linda Peterson and Robert Heaton; and his nephew Todd Heaton.
He is survived by: his children, Michael Metzgar of Wellsville and Michelle Mcelfresh (Dean) of Chester; his stepchildren, Cathy Bartholomew and Steve Burbick of Columbiana; his sister Sally Heaton of Steubenville; his grandchildren, Shayley Pasquarelli (Mark), Jordan Tate (Hugh), Mike Mcelfresh (Dawn), Adam Bartholomew and Jenna Clark (Kadie); and also Phil of Lisbon. He is also survived by 5 great-grandchildren.
