He is survived by: his wife Sandra Smith Burgess of Cedar Grove; his children, Joey Smith of Cabin Creek, David E. Burgess Jr. of Cedar Grove, Jesse Burgess of Cedar Grove, Allen Burgess of Cabin Creek, Macey Burgess of Belle, Lacey Carpenter of Sissonville, Kristie Cool of Elkins, Misty Lantz of Elkins and Gary Cool of Elkins; and his siblings, Donna Tuttle of Parkersburg and Emil Burgess of Winfield.
