He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles H. Shearer and Emma Louise Campbell Shearer; and his brothers, Robert Shearer and Frank Shearer. He is survived by: his wife Eva Y. Cunningham Shearer; his pet Sam; his children, Tami Y. Hatcher (David) of Lexington, NC, Lisa A. Waugh (Robert) of Bridgeport, Randall E. Shearer (Betsy) of Bridgeport and Lori R. Spatafore (William R. Spatafore, II); his grandchildren, Jaclyn Waugh, Valerie Emory (Brandon), Lindsey Mayle, Grace Shearer, Paul "Cameron" Shearer, Nicolas Spatafore and Bella Spatafore; his great grandchildren, Nika Howard, Brynna Mayle, Adler Mayle, Layla Emory, Kash Howard, Trent Emory and Kane Howard; and his siblings, Edward Shearer of Ashland, KY and Velma Larry of Mount Clare. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
