He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Douglas and Marguerite Cooly Walter; and his daughter Gidget Bryan. He is survived by: his wife Mabel Vail Waugh Walter; his children, Debbie Ross of Westminster, MD, Patty Lanham of Catonsville, MD, Joni Houser of Cape Coral, FL and Johnnie Carroll Walter, Jr. of Berkeley Springs; his sister Joan Compton of Carolina Beach, NC; and his grandsons, Joshua Walter of Shenandoah Junction, WV and Brian Walter of Charleston, SC. He is also survived by two great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
