Michael J. Darre Obituary

Michael J. Darre, age 71, of Williams Bay passed away on Sunday, October 10, 2021 at Mercy Janesville Hospital. He was born in Chicago to Robert and Kathryn (Murphy) Darre. Mike proudly served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He was united in marriage to Wendy Shafer. Mike taught for 37 years in the Animal Science Department at the University of Connecticut (UConn). Mike was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for 40 years. During this time, he served in a variety of callings that included clerking, leadership, and teaching. He was a temple worker in the Hartford, CT and Chicago, IL Temples.

Mike participated for several summers in the Tractor Trek which is a fundraiser held locally for the Agriculture in the Classroom organization. He loved it! Mike is survived by his wife Wendy; two daughters, Kathryn Darre and Susan Keller; four grandsons, Lucas, Benjamin, Ryan, and Matthew Keller; and siblings, Robert (Marsha) Darre, Daniel (Barbara) Darre, Thomas Darre, and Janet (Glenn) Vana; and many nieces and nephews.

Mike is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Kathryn; and a brother, Patrick Darre.

Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, W4615 Potter Road in Elkhorn. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service on Saturday at the church. The link information for the service is listed below.
