Robert M. Stempkowski Obituary
Bob passed peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ surrounded by his family after a courageous fight with leukemia. Bob was born in Milwaukee, WI to Henry and Rita (nee Willihnganz) Stempkowski and was a lifelong resident of Wauwatosa. He was a loving husband to Elizabeth "Liz" (nee Gaeth) and a devoted father to Jonathan "Jon" and Kristin (Paul) Arnett and proud Papa of Harper Arnett. Also, survived by sister Nancy (Fred) Olson, brother Bill Stempkowski, brothers-in-law Bill (Su) Gaeth and Mark Gaeth (Yvonne Liebl), niece, nephews, special friends Eunice Beckstrom and Darwin and Colleen Westphal and family, other relatives and friends.
Bob loved his country and served in the Army Reserves for six years in the 1960s. He worked at Ritter Engineering for 43 years in sales. Bob loved to help people and volunteer. He volunteered at the Milwaukee County Zoo and with the Wauwatosa Police Department. He especially enjoyed learning about the animals, specifically the elephant, chairing special events and handyman duties. He started with the Police Department with the DARE Program which led to community block watch, Tosa Fest, 4th of July Parades and other activities. He also supported the VA nurses by participating in the Veteran's Day Parades.
His hobbies included wood working, photography and all-around handyman. He loved vacationing up north at Boot Lake and enjoyed good friends and the outdoors.
The family would like to thank the Ascension Sherman Cancer Center and Accent Hospice Care for the compassionate care Bob received.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at Pilgrim Ev. Lutheran Church, 6817 W. Center Street, Wauwatosa, WI from 9AM until the time of the funeral service at 11AM. Graveside committal will follow the funeral at Highland Memorial Park, New Berlin, WI.
