Leo Ramsey Spanuello Obituary
Leo Ramsey Spanuello of Wauwatosa passed away at the age of 85 with his loving wife of 60 years by his side.
In addition to his wife, Katie (nee Trahan), he is survived by his children; Leo T. (Carrie) of Brookfield, WI and Elizabeth of Wauwatosa, WI. Grandchild; Leo F. (Anne-Marie) of Marietta, GA and step-grandchild; Jared Mallas of Brookfield, WI. Dear brother of Bunny (Bill) Thompson and Cathy (Norman) Carlson. Nieces; Marie, Katherine, Cozy, Bess, and Carita. Nephews; Kane, Tom, and Tim. Further survived by many other relatives and lifelong friends.
Ramsey is preceded in death by his parents; Leo and Bessie and stepmother; Rita. Also preceded in death by Suzanne (Tom) Barnett.
He grew up in Evanston, IL and attended St. Nicholas Grammar School and went on to graduate high school from St. George. Ramsey briefly attended Marquette University before he entered the Marine Corps, where he served in Japan for two years.
In 1962, he married the love of his life, Katie Trahan. They went on to raise their children in Wauwatosa, WI where they resided until his death. Ramsey was everyone's favorite salesman! He enjoyed many trips to the Boundary Waters with his children, where he would recite "The Cremation of Sam McGee" a poem by Robert W. Service. To everyone's delight, he was still able to recite this poem at family get togethers. Ramsey was a gifted poet who would often surprise family and friends with his original creative poems on birthdays and anniversaries.
He was a big fan of Katie's spaghetti and meatball recipe (so are the rest of us!). He was known for his keen sense of humor and jokes for every occasion. Ramsey enjoyed sitting on his porch having a glass of wine at their home they owned for 45 years on N. 70th street. He was a proud founder of FMS, along with multiple other people.
Everyone will miss his wisdom and wit.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at Schmidt and Bartelt Funeral Home (10121 W. North Ave., Wauwatosa, WI 53226) from 10am until the time of service at 12pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the family are greatly appreciated.
