John G. King Obituary

John G. King, "Singer of Songs", born February 29, 1936, in Milwaukee passed away peacefully on November 9, 2023, at the age of 87. John is the cherished husband of 58 years to the late Mary Francis (nee Purtell). John was the father of Patrick (Trisha) King, the late Maureen King, and Michelle (nee King) Skaggs. He is the loving grandfather of Phillip (Araya) Skaggs, Cortney (Damien Haller) Skaggs, Kara (Jack Raspanti) King, Jacob King, and Mya King; and five great grandchildren Payton, Axel, Kail, Kolt, and Charlotte. He is the son of the late Dr. Joseph M. and Irene (nee Riordan) King and brother of James (Estelle), Jane (James) Guhl, Thomas (Joan), and the late Patrick and Mary (Mark) O'Meara.

John attended St. Bernard grade school in Wauwatosa and graduated from Marquette University High School. He attended Marquette University and proudly served in the U.S. Navy Reserve. John enjoyed his 50 year career in graphic arts sales. John also enjoyed biking on the many trails in Milwaukee, Waukesha, Washington, and Ozaukee Counties.

Music played an important part in John's life. He played guitar, sang in the parish choir, and entertained at coffee houses, senior residences, and enjoyed performing with his many musician friends.

John was a devout Catholic and lifetime member of St. Bernard Parish. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 PM on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Catholic Church, 1500 N. Wauwatosa Avenue, Wauwatosa, WI. Visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, from 11 AM until the time of Mass at 1 PM. Private family burial will take place at St. John's Cemetery, Monches, WI at a later date.
