James D. Noonan Obituary
James (Jim) Daniel Noonan, Age 71, died peacefully with family by his side at Froedtert Hospital on May 28, 2023.
Jim is survived by his wife Barbara Noonan (nee Peterson); sons Paul (Jodi) Noonan and Danny (Marci) Noonan; grandchildren Erik, Bridget, Jane, and Samantha; siblings Tom (Ronette) Noonan, Ann Noonan, and Tim (Patrice) Noonan; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Jim was born on June 8, 1951 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Thomas and Edythe Noonan. When he was five years old, doctors found a cancerous tumor near his spinal cord. Although it was successfully removed through experimental surgery, the scarring from the radiation treatment that followed caused mobility issues that worsened over time. Despite his disability, he lived an extremely full life with many adventures.
He attended Wauwatosa West High School and the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, where he received a bachelor's degree in business and accounting and an MBA. While there, he also met Barbara, his wife of 48 years. He had two sons and was extremely active in their lives.
Jim worked for Miller Brewing Company in strategic and international planning for nearly his entire career. He was an avid world traveler both professionally and as a tourist with his family. He was also a math wiz and enjoyed reading and learning about history. He was a lifelong baseball fan and Milwaukee Brewers season ticket holder and attended several games during the 1982 World Series. In his later years when travel became too difficult, he found his own winter paradise on Anna Maria Island, Florida. He enjoyed spending time with his four grandchildren. More than anything, Jim, a gifted storyteller, enjoyed entertaining friends, family, and loved ones, drink in hand, on a warm summer day.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 3rd, from 2:00 to 4:00 at Schmidt & Bartelt Funeral Home in Wauwatosa. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Childrens Hospital of Wisconsin https://childrenswi.org or the Bryon Riesch Paralysis Foundation https://brpf.org.
