West Allis. Passed away Sunday, August 27, 2023. Age 80. Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Susan Mickelson (nee Malone); his dear daughter, Mary Wearing; and his dear step-daughter, Ann Osten. Dear father of Kenneth (Jill) Mickelson and Susan (Daniel) Muller; and step-father to Sean (Michele) Hughes and Shea (Mindy) Hughes. Loving grandfather of Roger (Katie) Bergemann, Justin (Leanna) Wearing, Daniel Jr. (Julia) Muller, Zacchaeus Muller and Genevieve Muller and step-grandfather to Josh, Jessica, Conall, Liam, Gavin, Moira, Maria, Joe, Sarah Grace, Gabriella, John Paul and Tommy; and his great-grandchildren Blakley, Lucy and Francesca. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Also preceding Douglas in death were his parents, Frank and Gwen Kondor; his sisters, Judy Fischer and Pat Whitley; and his brothers, Don Mickelson and Ron Israel.
Visitation Sunday, September 10, 2023 from 1:00pm until time of Memorial Service at 3:00pm at Schmidt & Bartelt Funeral Home, 10121 W. North Avenue, Wauwatosa. Reception in the Community Room to follow. Private interment St. Joseph's Cemetery in Waukesha. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the "How to Club" dedicated to helping those in recovery.
Doug was a quiet, selfless, generous, leader, sponsor and friend. He dedicated his life to helping others recover from addiction. He will be missed by all who knew him.
