Carmen M. Murguia Obituary
Carmen Margaret Valdes Murguia, 93, passed away peacefully, enveloped in the love of her family on Thursday, May 11, 2023.
Widow of the late Dr. Filiberto Murguia, her beloved husband of 60 years; daughter of David & Catalina Valdes (nee Navarrete). Preceded in death by her son, David A. Murguia. Cherished mother of Christina (Richard) Franz, Catherine (Eduardo) Gonzalez, Carmen and Raymond Murguia. Devoted grandmother to 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and many loved ones.
To know Carmen was to know the love of Jesus Christ and the Holy Mother Mary. Born in the Catholic faith and living every day to serve in her "little way," she dreamt of being a nun as a young child - with those dreams altering after meeting her soon-to-be husband, Filiberto from Tangancicuaro Michoacán Mexico and was a guest at the boarding house her father ran.
Famous for her excellent cooking and baking skills, she would welcome all into her home with a generous meal and a sweet treat. But nothing compared to the warmth she radiated, the kind words she offered, the unexpected humor and the gentle touch she could heal with. We will miss her daily novenas, endless rosaries, her prayers to her beloved saints, and open heart to which she offered all.
Carmen/Mom/Mami/Grandma was one of a kind and a gift to be ours.

For all those missing her special chocolate chip cookies - the secret is finally out - use the recipe on the back of the Nestle Tollhouse semi-sweet chocolate chips. Remember to make them petite and take them off the cookie sheet quickly so as not to get too crispy on the bottom. Make them next time you miss her - she'll help you get it right :) Visitation Friday, May 19, 2023 4:00 PM - 6:30 PM Schmidt & Bartelt Wauwatosa 10121 W North Ave. Wauwatosa, WI 53226 Phone: (414) 774-5010.
